Unfortunately we’re unable to process exchanges for nappy sizes at this time. We’ve chosen a 1-month subscription frequency to hopefully reduce the risk of this occurring. If you have a couple of packs leftover we encourage you to share them with another mum who can still use them or donate them to charities like St Kilda Mums, The Nappy Collective.
You have the option to log into your account at any time and change your subscription, so you can choose a size up or size down that you need.
We do need to start by letting you know that Health and Safety regulators in Australia always recommend that nappy products are disposed of in the rubbish. This is because they contain bodily fluids and excrement, so there is a potential health risk involved in composting them.
The short answer to this question is that you can’t put any disposable nappy in the compost – because they all contain components and layers that are made of polypropylene.
Our nappies contain two biodegradable elements, a biodegradable back sheet (the outermost layer of the nappy) and an organic bamboo cellulose core.
They also contain plastic, as this is an essential component in a disposable nappy and it simply wouldn’t perform without it. Knowing how important a well-performing nappy is to parents, we have aimed to reach the perfect balance between a sustainable product and one that won’t compromise on performance.
Through the product development process, it became increasingly important to us to consider the entire lifecycle of a nappy, looking at our environmental footprint during production as well as disposal. The biggest problem with a covered landfill in the developed world is that it doesn’t get any air or light, two essential components of decomposition. By using plant-based bioplastics, viscose and organic bamboo we’re making a conscious effort to use renewable resources with a lower carbon footprint.
We constantly review our entire supply chain to reduce our overall impact on the environment. Our nappies are manufactured in a factory entirely run on solar power and we’ve recently moved our manufacturing closer to Australia to reduce the distance our nappies have to travel to your change table.
We’d love to see the entire life cycle of disposable nappies become more sustainable, and if we can find ways to support those types of initiatives, we will.
Tooshies nappies are made from a combination of materials, some of which are biodegradable.
Where possible we’ve replaced conventional polypropylene (plastic) with a material called PLA – a bio-based plastic that’s made from corn. The absorbent core of the nappy is made with Organic Bamboo Pulp and super absorbent polymers to keep bub feeling dry. The back sheet is 100% biodegradable and made from plant-based material. We use quick-drying technology to keep the parts that touch baby’s skin feeling dry as they wick away moisture quickly. We use spandex in our leg cuffs and around the waist for added flexibility and comfortability. Our cute prints are non-hazardous inks made without lead and heavy metals.
Tooshies nappies have zero nasty ingredients so no lotions, parabens or fragrances meaning that they’re naturally hypoallergenic and soft on sensitive skin.
Most nappy brands have an overlap in the kg suggestions on their sizes, and the overlap is often bigger as the nappy sizes go up. It is actually quite difficult to accurately determine a nappy size by the weight of the baby. Babies (like adults!) come in all shapes and sizes and two 12kg babies can have very different body shapes and fit into different nappy sizes.
Nappies are designed to be more absorbent as the sizes get bigger, this is linked to the age of baby though rather than the weight as the nappy needs to hold more liquid. For example, if you have “small” 2 year old, you may find you need to change the nappy more frequently because you’re still in a size traditionally designed for a younger bub – this is also why we sometimes recommend a size up overnight.
Our best advice is to just keep an eye on how the nappy is fitting your baby – you will best placed to know when a nappy is starting to feel too small/tight, you can often judge this by how tight the waist and leg bands are. Absorption is also a good indicator if you find the nappy is a little on the tighter side and it’s also leaking more frequently then it’s usually a sign it’s time to go up a size.

You can purchase our Aloe Vera & Chamomile wipes in bulk from Coles (4 x 70 pack), Chemist Warehouse (6 x 70 pack), our online store (8 x 70 pack) and on Amazon (16 x 70 pack)
Our Pure Water wipes are also available to purchase in bulk from Chemist Warehouse (6 x 70 pack), our online store (8 x 70 pack) and on Amazon (16 x 70 pack)
At this stage we’ll only be able to offer the 70 pack in larger quantities. This is because our wipes are made from 100% biodegradable cellulose they are more absorbent than traditional poly blend wipes, what does this mean? It means they absorb more liquid and continue to do so over time, and the more wipes we put into a pack the more likely they are to dry out quickly. We are working to find alternative solutions to this, but in the meantime we’ve found that our uniquely textured wipes are so good a “wiping away” the messes on little tooshies that you’ll end up using less wipes per clean than you would with other brands so your pack should last a little longer!
Our wipes are made from 100% cellulose and have no poly plastic binders which means they are biodegradable. They have been independently tested and will biodegrade and compost in municipal/industrial facilities according to ASTM D5338 and OECD 311 standards. The biodegradability timeframe is approx. 45 – 60 days.
Please note that these tests are not carried out in home composting systems and for health and safety reasons, we do not recommend composting bodily fluids in home composting systems.
Our wipes are made from 100% plant based cellulose – plant based cellulose is not made from tree wood but rather from “shrubs” – it is the most sustainably grown form of cellulose. Cellulose is 100% biodegradable.
Most conventional wipes on the market are made from a cellulose/polypropelene (plastic) mix, which means they are not biodegradable.
The packaging on our baby wipes is made of plastic because we haven’t found a more suitable material for a wet product. The plastic is recyclable, but unfortunately most recycling facilities in Australia don’t allow “soft” plastic packets of any kind in the recycling bin (as a rule, if you can scrunch it up you can’t put it in the recycling). There are special facilities which recycle soft plastics and many supermarkets now have recycling bins for soft plastics, so check what’s available in your area.
The wipes packaging is a mix of PP (polypropylene) and PE (polyethylene) so it’s fine in RedCycle. As per their website if the plastic “scrunches” you can recycle it. The flip lid is the same material but it’s hard so we’d recommend removing it before disposing in the normal recycling.
You’ve very correctly observed the beautiful fresh aroma as rose geranium oil. You may also be noticing the organic Aloe Vera & Chamomile that are infused in the wipes. Note: this is not a perfume or fragrance and is a natural non-irritant aroma.
Our wipes contain the following ingredients: Aqua, Glycerin (plant based moisturiser), Silver Citrate (gentle preservative), Sodium Citrate (plant based antioxidant), Citric Acid (plant based stabiliser), Glyceryl Caprylate (naturally derived), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder (Organic), Chamomilla Recutita Flower Extract (Organic), Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil (Rose Geranium Oil)
Yes they are!
There is nothing in the wipes that is harmful to ingest. It is totally fine to use the wipes on faces and hands. Many women actually use the wipes as makeup removers!
We would never recommend flushing any kind of wipe. Even 100% biodegradable wipes do not behave the same way as toilet paper and are one of the main causes of blockages in our sewerage systems.
Our Reusable Cloth nappy is adjustable to almost any size.
With a 7 layer ultra-absorbent core, our nappies have been independently tested to absorb in ½ the time of other leading brands.
They are Velcro fitted for convenience when changing wriggly little ones and come with a booster for added comfort over night or as needed. The booster can sit on top or be inserted via the side.
In 4 gender neutral designs, the nappies are super soft and comfy for your little one.
Washing our nappies is easy. The best thing to do is to scrape and/or rinse off immediately and keep them somewhere air tight for no more than a day before machine washing.
Close the Velcro tabs before washing to.
Machine wash at less than 60 degrees. Don’t use any fabric softeners or bleach.
Line dry in the shade or gentle tumble dry.
Your regular washing detergent will do the trick.
Our nappy is designed to fit babies from about 4kg to about 17kg. However, as we all know, all babies come in different shapes and sizes and it can take a few goes to get the fit right for you. We include 3 sizes using the press studs on the front of the nappy and the Velcro is adjustable all along so you can find the snuggest fit for your child. Once you’ve found the right fit, a few adjustments to ensure the nappy grows along with your baby.
Not at all. A typical child will use about 6,000 nappies in the first few years of life. To accommodate this, disposable nappies could cost about $3k. If 30 reusable nappies were purchased over this time, this would only cost $660 with tooshies.
Those using cloth nappies exclusively may need 20-30 over the child’s nappy wearing lifetime.
This is based on about 5-6 changes per day, washing every two days. For those using a combination of cloth & disposable, it is really up to you. Start with a couple to see how it goes and purchase more as you need to.
Boosters are a great back up. Laid on top of the nappy (touching baby’s skin), sometimes you can simply remove this without changing the whole nappy if that is still dry. The boosters serve to act as extra protection depending on your baby needs. You can also insert through the side panel if you find the nappy is leaking or not lasting through the night.
Our nappies are made with polyester and spandex. While we’d love to offer a pure bamboo or organic cotton range of nappies, the performance, ability to absorb quickly and minimise leaking was our absolute priority.
